Exponent of associated Lie ring divides exponent of group

From Groupprops

Statement

Suppose is a group of finite exponent and is the associated Lie ring of . Then, the additive group of is also a group of finite exponent and the exponent of this additive group divides the exponent of .

In particular, if has exponent equal to a positive integer , this forces that has the structure of a -Lie algebra.

Note that the exponents of the two groups need not be equal in general.
