Emil Artin

Emil Artin was an Austrian-Armenian mathematician.
His son is Michael Artin.
Life

- 1898: Born on March 3 in Vienna.
- 1925: Became associate professor at Hamburg, Germany
- 1926: Became professor at Hamburg, Germany
- 1929: Married his wife Natascha
- 1933: Hitler takes power in Germany. Due to his wife Natascha's Jewish descent, they face increased persecution from 1933-1937 when they leave for the United States.
- 1934: Son, Michael Artin is born.
- 1937: Loses university professorship due to his wife having Jewish descent, and Germany being ruled by the Nazi regieme. Leaves Germany for the United States.
- 1946: Became professor at Princeton, New Jersey, U.S.A.
- 1958: Moves back to Germany.
- 1962: Died on December 20.
