Definition

Let n be a natural number greater than or equal to 4. The semidihedral group or quasidihedral group of order 2n (and degree 2n1), denoted SD2n, is defined by the following presentation:

SD2n=QD2n:=a,xa2n1=x2=e,xax=a2n21

(here, e is the symbol for the identity element).
